I am not a big video game person. I am not interested in playing (or watching, to be honest) my kids play their XBox or Wii or whatever. Boring.
However.
There are a few games on my Iphone that I am, sadly, addicted to.
I'm so ashamed.
I should state that I seldom just sit and play games, as if that makes it all better somehow. I usually play while waiting in line somewhere, in the evenings watching television, or in the loo.
My favorite remains Words with Friends and I currently have about 20 open games going with friends, my husband, and family. I know it is twenty because I tried to start a new game with my friend and Iphone said I had the maximum games allowed open. (Drat.)
Larry and I play this little game where we ask each other the definition of some of the strange words we play. I make the definition up and hope he believes me. He never does. But then again he seldom has definitions for the weird words he plays too. I mean really, "Za" as a shortened word for "pizza"? Who says that?! (Of course, we now say that when we have pizza for dinner. "We are having Za tonight!")
Anyway.
Josh got me to play another game called Song Pop. And by "got" I don't mean he tied my hands and forced me to play by gunpoint. He downloaded the game onto my Iphone and said I should give it a try.
I didn't play for weeks.
And then I did.
And now I do.
Dammit but it is so fun.
For as long as Larry and I have known each other (Lord help me, but we are going on 24 long years) we have played a game when a song came on the radio and we tried...in five seconds...to guess the name of the song and the artist. And, if I knew too many of them Larry changed the rules and demanded I give the record title.
This Song Pop game is kinda like that. You play other people and you try and guess the name of the song (or artist) before the other person in timed matches based on certain eras of music (80s; classic rock; current hits; rap; country; love songs, etc.). You get points, they keep score, there are winners, blah blah blah...I don't care about all that. It's just super fun.
A few weeks ago I was waiting for people to play Words with Friends and so I had no games to play, I was also waiting for people to play Song Pop and therefore I had no games to play.
Gasp!
Horrors!
What ever shall one do with no games to play on ones Iphone?! How truly awful!
So, I asked Josh to download Bejeweled. Big mistake.
There is something about the lights! And the blinging! And the popping of jewels! And the bright jewels all sparkly! I almost can't stop playing.
Those are basically the three games I play.
Okay, I'm lying.
I also like playing Mahjong which kinda hurts my eyes because the tiles on the phone are super small (I should play on my Kindle but I'm afraid to even start...) but I squint and play anyway...although this game is not quite as satisfying as the others.
And, of course I have Angry Birds on my phone...thanks to Josh who downloads them and insists I need them...but I seldom play. No, really. I'm telling the truth this time. I got sort of Angry Birded out when it first became popular and now it is just the last resort game if I am so bored and I must have SOMETHING to play. (God forbid.)
I draw the line at games on my computer, though.
As if that makes it better. It does, doesn't it?
