Why are people interested in the cause of death? Is it a sense of (morbid) curiosity? Or, are we just rude?
I'm very interested in how people die. But, I am fascinated with cemeteries and death in general in maybe a morbid way but I don't ever want to be rude or nosy or come off as if I don't care. Now, if someone dies after the age of 60 (no offense), I can more or less take a guess as to the cause of death. But, anyone younger than that I am curious. When my own grandmother died around the age of 40 I wanted desperately to piece together the reason. When I glance at the obituary column and I spot someone young, I always read to see how they died (and get a little frustrated when they don't mention it like somehow it is their duty to include the reason they died!).
I remember when my uncle was tragically killed at the age of 48 and every single person who walked through our doors to give condolences asked not only what happened but they wanted all the gory details (if I didn't know the details first hand, I would have wanted to know too).
Does anyone else feel this way?
