I have tried to come up with many ways my kids (and me) can stay connected to Larry while he is in Pennsylvania. For starters we have regular phone conversations and each kid gets to talk to/see dad with the web-cam, alone, every night. We send him care packages (I finally got one out in the mail to him!). Jennifer draws lots of pictures (my favorite is the one telling him to say no to drugs. Yes, indeed). And, I gave Harrison a book that he can write to dad anytime he wants and after a period of time we will mail him the book and Larry will in turn write to him and mail it back, and so on.
Who knows if it all helps or not but so far no one has wanted to jump off a bridge (well, except me).
I made a small, very simple scrapbook for Larry to have at his house...pictures of all of us...the dog...the house (that he no longer has to worry about keeping clean, the bastard)...and then in little pockets we each wrote him letters.
I realized that there will be many things he will be missing while we are apart...soccer games, Halloween costumes, searching for a pumpkin, New Years, and so on. I put together, again simple, a little book titled, "While You Were Away" that I have left lots of room for easy writing from any one of us about our day, our week, an outing, etc. and plenty of room for photos to document what he is missing during this period in our lives.

say no to drugs...but always say yes to rice-a-roni & mac-n-cheese, LOL!

I love your book!
You are such a wiz at stuff like that, documenting I mean. I wish I could think more like that.
